Ashley Walters was born in 1982 and grew up in south east London. Ashley was brought up by his mother, who was a personnel officer.

Ashley Walters started acting young. He starred in Grange Hill in 1997. His other credits included being the lead actor in a TV film called Storm Damage, and roles in The Bill, Holby City and The Murder of Stephen Lawrence.

Ashley Walters also became famous as Asher D in the So Solid Crew, but when he was 22 he was imprisoned for possessing a converted Brocock air pistol loaded with live ammunition. Lennie James, the author of Storm Damage, writing in Prospect and The Observer explained: "He and his girlfriend, Natalie Williams, were in an argument with a traffic warden. The gun never left Natalie's bag, where it was wrapped in a sock, but the warden reported the incident and the police found it in searching the couple."

In 2007 the BBC announced that Ashley Walters, was joining the Hustle gang for series four of BBC One's hit Hustle. In Hustle, Walters plays Billy Bond, a street kid who has spent most of his formative years in and out of care homes.

Ashley Walters won a British Independent Film Award for most promising newcomer for his starring role in Saul Dibb's film, Bullet Boy.

In 2005 Ashley Walters played Max in Channel Four's Last Rights. The opening scene of the film was shot in Feltham Young Offender Institution, where Walters, in real life, had served his sentence.

As well as his TV work, Ashley Walters has a number of acting credits in movies including Get Rich or Die Tryin', Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker, and Goal! The Dream Begins.
