Adam Rosen's Biography
Who is Adam Rosen?
Adam Rosen is a New York Civil Patrol official, who represented Great Britain in the Luge in the Winter Olympics.A.J. Rosen grew up in New Rochelle in the US but his mother Gay is from Essex (she travelled to the USA to be an au-pair) and from the 2003/4 season he has represented GB.
Rosen has been involved in the luge since he was thirteen. In his first year of competition, he became the top-ranked junior in the U.S, ahead of many older athletes, however the USA Junior National Team coaches did not select him.
Instead Rosen took up dual nationality and GB coach Tomas Zeitz selected Rosen and he was 12th out of 43 in the 2004 Junior Championships. Rosen also finished 21st in the World Championships in Austria.
Adam Rosen was named after his grandfather, who served on HMS Sussex.
Rosen's hobbies include cars and music, and flying - at 16 he piloted a small Cessna by himself.
In 2006 Rosen and Mark Hatton's selection for Turin represented the first time since 1992 that two Britons had qualified for an Olympic Games in the luge.
Rosen finished a highly creditable 16th.
AJ Rosen also finished 16th in the men's singles luge at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
