Who is Mark Benton?
Mark Benton was born on 16 November 1965 in Guisborough, Cleveland.The actor's significant TV roles include playing Frederick Finch in Land Girls and Daniel Chalk in Waterloo Road.
His numerous other television credits include City Lights, Northern Lights, Murphy’s Law, White Van Man, George Gently, Silent Witness, Hustle, and Inspector Lynley.
Mark Benton started out his acting career with the Middlesbrough Youth Theatre.
He then graduated from RADA (The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art).
His first film credit was in 1997 in Mike Leigh's Career Girls.
Further films followed such as Beyond the Pole, Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, Lighthouse Hill, and Redemption Road.
In 2013, Mark Benton became one of the celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing. At the time he was also playing Edna Turnblad in the UK tour of Hairspray. It was the first time he had toured for 20 years.
In Strictly Mark was paired with Iveta Lukosiute.
In 2016, Mark Benton hosted the BBC2 quiz show The Edge.
In September 2017, the BBC announced that Mark Benton would star alongside Jo Joyner in a new BBC detective drama Shakespeare & Hathaway.
