Who is Tom Chambers?
Tom Chambers comes from Parwich near Ashbourne in Derbyshire.After leaving drama school in 1999, it was not until 3 January 2006, when Tom Chambers had his major acting breakthrough when he started playing Sam Strachan in BBC One's Holby City.
Tom Chambers's film credits include Fakers, which starred another actor from Holby, Art Malik.
In 2008, Tom Chambers partnering Camilla Dallerup won Strictly Come Dancing.
A bizarre situation had seen Tom Chambers and Camilla Dallerup qualify for the Strictly Come Dancing final.
They came third in the semi-final in the judges' voting, but because Rachel Stevens and Lisa Snowdon tied for first place and telephone votes of any number could not save Tom and Camilla from the dance-off, the BBC decided that all the couples should go through to the final.
A sign of the importance of Strictly Come Dancing to Tom Chambers, was that he postponed his wedding and honeymoon plans to appear on the show.
Tom Chambers's wedding was rearranged for Sunday 19 October 2008.
Tom Chambers told the BBC:
"My fiancee Claire said there was absolutely no way we were going to move the wedding but the clincher was her grandparents Peg 'n' Den - they're massive fans of the show and we thought it was a brilliant way to earn some brownie points!"
Tom Chambers's wife Claire Handling was the daughter of Tom's geography teacher and Tom and Claire originally met at Repton school.
Tom Chambers was voted off in the first round of an edition of the celebrity Weakest Link.
Tom enjoys tap dancing and painting.
In December 2000, Tom Chambers was on a plane to Kenya when it was highjacked.
In May 2009, The Sun reported that Tom Chambers had been cast as Max Tyler in series five of Waterloo Road.
In 2012, Tom Chambers and Summer Strallen were cast in the lead roles of Dale Tremont and Jerry Travers in Top Hat in London's West End.
Subsequently, Tom Chambers reprised his Holby role as Sam Strachan in Casualty.
Trivia
Tom Chambers drove lorries, delivering plastic crates round London, to make ends meet whilst struggling to get acting roles.
