Who is Julien McDonald?
Julien Macdonald was born in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales on March 19, 1972.He did a foundation course at Cardiff Art College followed by a fashion textiles degree at Brighton University and a master's degree in knitwear at the Royal College of Art in 1996.
Julien Macdonald was then appointed Head Designer of Knitwear at Chanel and Lagerfeld by Karl Lagerfeld. He held the post from 1996 to 1998. In 2001, Givenchy appointed him Creative Director, and in the same year he was named British Fashion Designer of the Year.
In 2004 Macdonald returned to Britain and focussed on his own label.
In 2013, Julien Macdonald became one of the celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing. He was no stranger to television, having been a judge on Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model, and having been a fashion expert on It Takes Two.
He was also no stranger to dance. When he was a youngster, before he entered the fashion world, Julien Macdonald had trained as a tap dancer.
Julien's partner in Strictly Come Dancing 2013 was Janette Manrara.
Julien and Janette found themselves in the dance-off in the first three weeks of Strictly Come Dancing. They lost out on the final occasion and were the third couple to be voted off.
