Who is Victoria Derbyshire?

Born in 1968, she grew up in Lancashire and had a violent father. Around the time of the Panorama programme Escape the Abuser, Victoria Derbyshire wrote: "My parents got divorced when I was 16 and that's when we escaped the violence."

She went to Bury Grammar School and Liverpool University.

In August 2015 Derbyshire revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She wrote a book entitled Dear Cancer: A diary of hope to help you through.

She spent sixteen years presenting on BBC Radio 5 Live.

In 2015 she launched a new daily TV news and current affairs programme on BBC Two, but the show was dropped in 2020.

She is married to Mark Sandell and they have two boys.

In 2020, she became one of the celebrities on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. She came 9th.

In 2023, she was one of the celebrities to appear on the Channel 5 series No Place Like Home.
