Felicity Jones's Biography
Felicity Jones has been acting from a very early age. In Birmingham, at just 11, Felicity passed an audition at the Central Junior Television Workshop and went on to play Alice in The Treasure Seekers and Ethel Hallow in The Worst Witch and Weird Sister College.
Felicity Jones was cast in a significant and enduring part at 15 when she started playing Emma Grundy in Radio 4's The Archers.
Further television parts followed: The Worst Witch on ITV and the BBC One costume drama Servants, in which she played nursemaid and housemaid Grace May.
Felicity Jones then studied English literature and language at Wadham College but it did not stop her acting!
She toured with Oxford University's dramatic society in an adaptation of Shakespeare's A Comedy Of Errors at the Tokyo Metropolitan Arts Centre, and, also whilst at Oxford, Felicity played Bianetta in Lulu. However, it was in 2007 that Felicity Jones really came to prominence.
In March 2007, she played Catherine Morland in the Andrew Davies adaptation of Northanger Abbey.
The Stage wrote of her performance: "While not exactly feisty, Jones invested dippy Catherine with sufficient spirit and resourcefulness to make her an agreeable heroine."
It was not the first time Felicity Jones had acted in a Jane Austen work, previously she had played Fanny in an adaptation of Mansfield Park.
Talking to The Radio Times about her role in Northanger Abbey, Felicity Jones said of Jane Austen: "People think Austen is a lot more romantic and straightforward than she actually is. She is quite practical about love and relationships - she's very measured about who people should marry."
Also in 2007, Felicity Jones went into production on the new Channel 4 witness protection drama Cape Wrath and acted in the play That Face at the Royal Court Theatre. In Cape Wrath, Felicity Jones played Zoe, the daughter of Danny Brogan played by David Morrissey.
In 2009, she starred as Margot Frank in the TV series The Diary of Anne Frank.
In 2014, she received widespread acclaim for her role as Jane Hawking in the film The Theory of Everything.
In 2016, Felicity Jones was cast as Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
In 2019, she was cast as Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the film On The Basis of Sex.
In the same year she also appeared alongside Eddie Redmayne in The Aeronauts. They had previously worked together on The Theory of Everything.
