Rachel Khoo's Biography
Rachel Khoo was born in Croydon in the south of England, but has a Malay-Chinese-Austrian heritage.
She graduated in art and design from Central St. Martin's College in London. Whilst there she assisted on food shoots which sparked her interest in working with food. However, before she pursued her interest in food, Rachel Khoo worked in PR and e-marketing for a fashion brand. She then went to Paris and studied pâtisserie at Le Cordon Bleu.
Rachel Khoo worked at the Paris culinary bookstore and tea salon, La Cocotte, where she baked sweet treats, catered for book launches and hosted cookery classes.
Subsequently, she worked for herself on food projects all over the world as well as Paris.
In addition to giving cookery classes and catering for dinner parties, she also, in some instances, takes clients to the market and then cooks with them.
Her food writing includes the French books Barres à céréales, Granola et Muesli faites maison; and Pâtes à tartiner. In 2012, she was commissioned by BBC 2 to present a TV series in tandem with her book The Little Paris Kitchen, named after Le Petite Cuisine, which she runs in Paris.
