William Arthur Philip Louis Windsor, better known as Prince William was born on 21 June, 1982 at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London.

Prince William is the son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. He is the second in line to the throne and is the elder brother of Prince Harry.

Prince William gained geography, biology and history of art 'A' Levels at Eton.

Prince William received a 2:1 in his Master of Arts (Honours) Degree in Geography at St Andrews University. He had originally enrolled to study art history under the name "William Wales".

Prince William is a keen sportsman, who supports Aston Villa and is keen on high-speed motorbike riding. He has a black Labrador, called Widgeon.

In December 2006, Prince William was commissioned as an officer in the British Army. His then girlfriend, Kate Middleton was a guest at the ceremony.

In 2007, Prince William and Kate Middleton broke up, however later in the year they got back together.

In October 2007, Clarence House announced that Prince William is to serve on attachment with the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy in 2008.

On 11 April 2008, Prince William was awarded his RAF pilot's wings.

On 16 November 2010 it was announced that Prince William had got engaged to Kate Middleton and that they would marry in the spring or summer of 2011. He had proposed to her while they were on holiday in Kenya in October 2010.

Shortly afterwards it was revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton would marry on Friday 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey.

On William and Kate's wedding day, it was announced that Prince William had been made the Duke of Cambridge and would also take the titles of Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.

In December 2012, it was announced that Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge and Kate were expecting a baby.

On 22 July 2013, the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby boy George Alexander Louis weighing 8lb 6oz.

In 2016, Prince William broke new ground when he became the first British royal to appear on the cover of a gay magazine, appearing on the cover of Attitude's July edition.

On 4 September 2017, it was revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge was pregnant with their third child.

On 23 April 2018, she gave birth to their second son Louis Arthur Charles.

Following the death of the Queen on 8 September 2022, and the accession of his father to the throne, Prince William became the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cornwall.
