Jenna Coleman was born on 27 April 1986 in Blackpool.

She was keen on acting from childhood when she performed in several dance shows and played a bridesmaid in the musical Summer Holiday.

Amongst her influences she cites Colin Snell, a drama teacher at Arnold School, which formed a semi-professional theatre company.

Her breakthrough as an actor came when she was 19 and was cast as Jasmine Thomas in Emmerdale. She ended up playing the role for five years.

However, tough times followed. it would be six years before her next big breakthrough when she was cast as Lindsay James in Waterloo Road.

in the meantime, she earned money working in a pub in Hampstead in North West London.

Further credits followed such as Death Comes to Pemberley and Dancing on the Edge and most notably, in 2012, beng cast as Clara Oswald, the companion to Doctor Who.

In 2016 Jenna Coleman was cast in the lead role in the ITV drama series Victoria.

She is a friend of Prince Harry and has been romantically linked with Richard Madden.

In 2024, Jenna was cast as Ember Manning in the four-part crime drama BBC series The Jetty.

Her height is 5ft 2in.
