Nish Kumar's Biography
Nishant better known as Nish Kumar was born on 26 August 1985 in Tooting, London, and grew up in Croydon.
His family are originally from India.
Nish Kumar gained a degree in History and English from Durham University but embarked on a career in comedy early in life in 2006.
Together with Tom Neenan he formed the comedy act The Gentlemen of Leisure.
In 2012 he had his debut solo show at the Edinbugh Fringe, Who Is Nish Kumar?
His next shows Nish Kumar Is a Comedian (2013) and Ruminations on the Nature of Subjectivity (2014) both sold out.
His next show Nish Kumar: Long Word ... Long Word ... Blah Blah Blah ... I’m So Clever was nominated for the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy award, as was his 2016 show Actions Speak Louder Than Words, Unless You Shout the Words Real Loud.
Nish Kumar's TV appearances include The John Bishop Show, Have I Got News For You, Alan Davies As Yet Untitled, Q.I, Mock The Week, and Live At The Apollo.
He has also been the presenter of the topical comedy show, Newsjack on Radio 4 Extra.
His girlfriend Amy Annette is joint editor of the book I Call Myself a Feminist.
In 2017, BBC Two commissioned The Mash Report, hosted by Nish Kumar.
In December 2019 Nick Kumar was forced to cut short his performance at a Lord's Taverners charity event.
In the same month, the BBC announced that Nish Kumar would be hosting a series of The News Quiz on Radio 4.
