Rihanna was born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados.

She had a difficult childhood. Her father, Ronald Fenty, was an alcoholic and a crack addict.

Nevertheless, she was only 16 when she started to embark on her highly successful career as a singer.

In 2005, Def Jam released the single Pon de Replay from her album Music of the Sun. It proved to be the first of many big hits.

Rihanna's further albums including A Girl Like Me, Good Girl Gone Bad, Rated R, Loud, and Unapologetic spawned numerous hits.

Unapologetic was her first number one album.

In August 2015 it was announced that Rihanna would be a key advisor on The Voice.

Rihanna had a relationship with Chris Brown, who at one point was charged with assault and pleased guilty after reports that he had beaten her.

In January 2019, it was revealed that Rihanna was taking her father Ronald Fenty to court, accusing him of exploiting her name to further his entertainment business.

In 2020, Rihanna made her debut in The Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated wealth of £468 million.
