Ted Purdy was born in Phoenix, Arizona on 15 August 1973.

He became a professional golfer in 1996.

Ted Purdy won the 2005 Byron Nelson Championship thereby claiming his first US PGA Tour title.

In 2004 Ted Purdy came second twice. Once in the BC Open and once when he lost in a play-off to Stewart Cink in the MCI Heritage.

On Purds.com, Ted Purdy reveals that he learnt golf from his mother and in response to who his role models are replied: "The great role models are the older players -- the Tom Watsons, the Jack Nicklauses. But I also grew up playing junior golf with Tiger Woods. I really respect the way he represents himself and the game. I've beaten him twice -- probably more than most people -- but he's beaten me about 300,000 times."
