Melissa Rivers was born on 20 January 1968 in New York City, the daughter of Joan Rivers and Edgar Rosenberg.

Joan and Edgar would later break up and he would commit suicide leading to a temporary rift between Joan and Melinda Rivers.

However they would later not just make up but also work together hosting red-carpet events on E! and the TV Guide Channel.

In 2008 when their red carpet role was being taken over by others, The Guardian commented: "No Joan and Melissa Rivers this year. The red carpet equivalent of Mom and Norman Bates have run out of networks."

Melissa Rivers went to school in Los Angeles and then studied European History at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with Distinction in Major in 1989.

As well as her performances on the red carpet, Melinda Rivers produced and hosted Oh Baby! Melissa's Guide to Pregnancy and Oh, Toddler! Surviving the Early Years.

She has also produced and hosted TV Candy, The Stylist Special, and Stars' First Jobs.

Melissa Rivers had a son Edgar Cooper Endicott on December 1, 2000.

In 2009, both Melissa and Joan Rivers were selected to be on Celebrity Apprentice, with Melissa Rivers playing for the charity, Lili Claire Foundation. Melissa was fired after the 10th task, in effect, coming sixth.
