Charlie Simpson's Biography
Charlie Simpson was born on 7 June 1985 in Ipswich, England.
He left Busted after they had achieved four number ones. His Busted bandmates were James Bourne and Matt Willis. In the daytime Charlie Simpson was at a press conference announcing his departure and by 11pm he was on stage in Coventry with his new band Fightstar.
Charlie Simpson explained to The Guardian how he came to join Busted:
"When I was at school, I formed a band called Spleen, and I loved that band. At the same time, I met my girlfriend, my brother was at school with me. But all in one year, Spleen's drummer got expelled, so no more band, and my girlfriend and brother left school ... one day, my music teacher said he'd seen this ad - guitarist wanted for pop-punk style band. I thought I might as well do it. I wanted to play music. I didn't think about where it would go or what it would do."
Charlie Simpson revealed in a web chat with The Sun: "Nine months before I left Busted I was in Germany and I broke down. I nearly had a mental breakdown. I asked my manager to not book anything else, so that I could leave Busted as soon as I had a completely free schedule."
Also in The Sun, Charlie Simpson said his music influences when he was growing up were Nirvana, Metallica, Silverchair and The Deftones.
In 2019, Busted got back together and released an album Half Way There.
