Carrie Underwood, who was born on 10 March 1983 in Muskogee, was raised on a farm in Oklahoma and started singing in church when she was just three.
Underwood studied at Checotah High School and Northeastern State University, where she majored in journalism.
In 2007 Carrie Underwood won the Peoples Choice awards for favorite female singer and favorite country song for Before He Cheats.
At the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, Carrie Underwood won three awards including Best New Artist.
