Bao XiShun's Biography

Bao Xishun was born in China in 1951. Xi Shun was declared the world's tallest living man, after being measured in January 15, 2005, at Chifeng City Hospital, Inner Mongolia, China as 7 feet 8.95 inches tall. However in 2007 he was overtaken by the Ukrainian, Leonid Stadnyk, as the world's tallest living person.

Guinness World Records reports that Xi Shun had an inexplicable growth spurt in his late teens.

Bao Xishun was in the Army, before returning to Mongolia, where he is a herdsman.

The BBC has a report, World's tallest man saves dolphin, about how, in December 2006, Bao Xishun used his long arms to reach into some dolphins' stomachs and pull out dangerous plastic shards at an aquarium in Fushun, north-east China.

In 2007, Bao Xishun married Xia Shujian, a saleswoman from his home city of Chifeng. Xia Shujian was 25 years younger than the 54 year-old Mr. Bao and two-thirds of his height. The BBC report, World's tallest man gets married, has a photo of Xia Shujian reaching Bao Xishun's arm pit.
