Tom Bradby's Early Life

Tom Bradby was born on 13 January 1967 in Malta, the son of a Royal Navy officer.

He studied at a naval institution in Gibraltar, and then Sherborne and Edinburgh University.

His career at ITN

Bradby has worked for ITN since he left the University of Edinburgh, starting as an editorial trainee in 1990.

One of his first jobs was as a producer for Michael Brunson, the ITV political editor - a role that Bradby himself would later hold.

He was Northern Ireland correspondent at the time of the peace process, before moving to Hong Kong, where as ITN's Asia Correspondent, he was shot in the leg whilst covering riots in Jakarta.

After his recovery, he returned to the UK and became ITN's royal correspondent.

In 2005, Tom Bradby was appointed ITV News's political editor.

In 2015, Tom Bradby became the anchor of ITV's News at Ten. It was the first time ITV had a single host of its flagship show since the 1990s.

Bradby has also hosted ITV's General Election coverage and their weekly discussion programme, The Agenda.

!n 2017, Tom Bradby won the RTS Television Journalism Award for network presenter of the year.

Bradby's spell in Northern Ireland inspired his debut novel Shadow Dancer, which was also turned into a film.

His experience in the Far East underpinned The Master of the Rain, his novel set in 1920s Shanghai.

His other novels include The Master of Rain, The White Russian, The God of Chaos, and Blood Money.

Tom Bradby's Family

His wife Claudia is a jewellery designer who worked with Kate Middleton at Jigsaw.

Tom and Claudia live in Stockbridge.

They have three children Jack, Louisa and Sam.
