Who Is Rhydian Roberts?

X Factor finalist Rhydian Roberts was born in Brecon in 1983. His father is an electrical contractor and his mother works for a charity called Crossroads Caring for Carers. His brother, Gareth, is a solicitor.

Rhydian, nicknamed The Rhydler, was educated at the Pontsenni Cylch Meithrin, Ysgol y Bannau Brecon, Llandovery College (where he was head boy) and at Birmingham Conservatoire.

Rhydian Roberts is a classical baritone singer and had vocal training for seven years prior to The X Factor.

Rhydian's mother pointed out to BBC Wales that Rhydian is keen on rugby, goes to the gym every day, and when he was younger he learnt to play the trumpet.

X Factor

Since 27 October 2007, on The X Factor, Rhydian Roberts has performed The Phantom of The Opera, Pink's Get The Party Started, You Raise Me Up, The Pet Shop Boys' Go West, Somewhere from West Side Story, Queen's 'Somebody To Love, You'll Never Walk Alone from Carousel, and Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Rhydian explained his views on Christianity and his decision not to have sex before marriage to the Daily Mail.

Before The X factor final, Rhydian Roberts told icWales:

"If I don't win, I want Same Difference to win. They are cheesy and lovely."

In the end, Rhydian Roberts came second to Leon Jackson in The X Factor final.

Nevertheless, in January 2008, Rhydian Roberts signed a record deal with Sony BMG.



Trivia
Rhydian Roberts's grandfather was fellow Welsh singer Tom Jones's doctor.
