Ravi Kissen's Biography
Ravi Kissen (sometimes referred to as Ravi Kishan or Kishen) has had great success acting in Bhojpuri films. Ravi Kissen has the unusual honour of being the star of a film with his own name. In Ravi Kissen, he plays the double role of Ravi and Kissen.
Heralding from Benaras Ravi Kissen graduated from Benaras University, but has been in acting since he was 12.
His first film was Udhar Ki Zindagi with Kajol in 1990.
The Hindu reported Ravi Kishen (Kissen) as saying:
"I came to Mumbai in 1990 to try my luck in Hindi films. I have done films like 'Army' with superstars like Sridevi and Shah Rukh Khan, 'Kudrat' with Urmila Matondkar, Akshay Khanna, 'Udhar Ki Zindagi' with Kajol and Jeetendra, 'Tere Naam' with Salman Khan and Bhumika Chawla and the latest 'Phir Hera Pheri' with Sunil Shetty and Akshay Kumar.
"My Hindi films were not doing very well, so I shifted to Bhojpuri films."
Ravi Kissen got good reviews for his role in Tere Naam. Even Radio Sargam, which only gave a 4/10 rating for the film, said "Ravi Kissen is excellent".
He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the priest in Satish Kaushik's Tere Naam.
Rediff reported Ravi Kissen as saying:
"This year, for the Bhojpuri popular awards, Dilip Kumar gave me the Best Actor award, which whetted my appetite. I'm going to get into the role of a low-class pig-tender in Paar, cut my hair, and wallow in mud, just like Naseerbhai. For my female audience, I'll wear a flimsy dhoti and remain bare-bodied and wet throughout."
Although he has acted in scores of Hindi films and TV serials like Hello Inspector and Hawaayein, the work had started to dry up, but Ravi Kissen came back with a vengeance via frequent Bhojpuri hit films including 'Saiya Hamar' (at the request of Mohanji Prasad, in effect getting Ravi involved in Bhojpuri cinema), 'Ganga Jaisan Mai Hamar', 'Kab Hoi Gauna Hamar', 'Kab Hoi Milanva Hamar', 'Kanyadaan', 'Raja Bhojpuria', and 'Mai Baap' and his first film with Nagma - 'Panditji Batayeen Na Biyah Kab Hoyee'.
Ravi Kissen told IANs as reported on Bhojpuria.com that his relationship with Nagma has been called off:
"But we'll continue to work together. We're an inseparable jodi in Bhojpuri films. I'll always wish her well. And yes, I need to do Big Boss to sort things out in my head."
In November 2006 Ravi Kissen became a contestant in Bigg Boss along with Carol Gracias, Rakhi Sawant, Anupama Verma, Kashmira Shah, Aryan Vaid, Deepak Parashar, Rahul Roy, Salil Ankola (replaced by Deepak Tijori), Rupali Ganguly and Bobby Darling.
Ravi Kissen got into the last three of Big Boss, which was eventually won by Bollywood actor Rahul Roy.
