Following on from Chris Moneymaker, and Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem won the World Series of Poker as an outsider. It was Hachem's first attempt. He was 39 and had been playing poker seriously for 10 years.

Hachem won the main event at the 2005 World Series of Poker, beating 5,618 other players to win the $7.5 million first prize.

Joe Hachem was born in Lebanon but moved to Australia when still a child. A family man, Joe has four children and before turning to a mix of mortgage banking and semi-professional poker was a chiropractor for 13 years.

In an interesting interview with Mike Sexton, Joe Haschem said: "I believe poker teaches one discipline and how to handle adversity."
