Tom Hardy's Biography
Early Life
Tom Hardy was born on 15 September 1977 in Hammersmith, west London.His father's jobs included writing jokes for Dave Allen. His mother was an artist.
He studied at Richmond Drama School and the Drama Centre London.
TV and Movies
He went on to amass numerous significant movie credits including playing Eames in Inception, Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, Tommy Riordan in Warrior, and Bronson in the movie of the same name.Meanwhile his television roles included playing Stuart Shorter in Stuart: A Life Backwards, Alfie Solomons in Peaky Blinders, and Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights.
2015 saw him cast in Mad Max; Fury Road and The Revenant, which gained him an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor. In The Revenant as in Inception Tom Hardy appeared alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
In 2016 it was revealed that Tom Hardy would star in the film Dunkirk.
In January 2017, Tom Hardy was cast as James Delaney in an eight part drama series for BBC One, Taboo, for which he was also joint executive producer.
Personal Life
The same year (2015) also saw him have a child with his wife the actress Charlotte Riley. Hardy had previously had a child with Rachel Speed.In his earlier years Tom Hardy was a drink and drug addict. However, he recovered and in Tom Hardy's own words stuck to the recovery 'like glue'.
In 2018 he was made a CBE.
In December 2022, the BBC reported that Jo-Anne Shaw, who said her last wish was to meet Tom Hardy, was rewarded with a video call from him.
