Suranne Jones's Birthday

Suranne Jones was born in Oldham in the north west of England on 27 August 1978.

Since having a long-running role as Karen McDonald in Coronation Street, Suranne Jones has amassed numerous TV and theatre credits.

Her television work includes playing Rachel Bailey in Scott & Bailey, and the title role of Doctor Foster, for which she won a Bafta award for best actress.

Subsequent to the first series of Doctor Foster, Suranne Jones has been cast in Save Me for Sky Atlantic, and Gentleman Jack for BBC One.

She had previously worked with Gentleman Jack's writer and director Sally Wainwright several times before, for example, on Dead Clever, Unforgiven, and Scott & Bailey.

In 2019 Suranne Jones was cast as Anne Lister in BBC's Gentleman Jack. She received a Bafta nomination for best actress for her role in Gentleman Jack.

In 2020, she was cast as DCI Amy Silver in the BBC One drama series Vigil.
