Who is Ashley Banjo?
Early Life
Ashley Banjo was born on October 4, 1988 in Leytonstone, London.His father was a boxer and his mother a ballet dancer with the Royal Ballet.
They owned Danceworks dance studio.
Ashley Banjo started dancing when he was just 5 years old.
He went on to create and choreograph the street dance group Diversity.
Diversity
Originally, Ashley and his brother Jordan and nine others had formed Swift Mover, but in 2007 they changed the name to Diversity.Their big breakthrough came in 2009 after winning Britain's Got Talent (BGT) series three.
After Britain's Got Talent
Ashley Banjo subsequently became a judge on the Sky show Got To Dance.In 2015, he married Francesca Abbott. They have a chihuahua and a great Dane.
In 2016, the BBC revealed that Zoe Ball and Ashley Banjo would be the presenters of BBC One's entertainment show Can’t Touch This.
In the same year ITV announced that it had commissioned a 60 minute special in which Ashley Banjo and Diversity would host a dance entertainment programme entitled Diversity Steal The Show.
In November 2016, ITV revealed that Ashley Banjo would be a judge on their new entertainment show Dance Dance Dance.
In August 2018, Ashley Banjo was a nominee for the Joe Allen Best West End Debut prize for his role in Dick Whittington at the London Palladium.
In 2020, Diversity with Ashley Banjo performed a Black Lives Matter routine on Britain's Got Talent.
Dancing on Ice
On 6 November 2017, ITV announced that Ashley Banjo would be a judge on the next series of Dancing on Ice.Back to Top
