Kirstie Alley's Biography
Kirstie Alley was born on 12 January 1951 in Wichita, Kansas.
Although best known as an actress, she also wrote and executive produced TV shows. By 2011, Kirstie Alley had won a Golden Globe, two Emmys and three People's Choice Awards.
Her major acting breakthrough was playing Vulcan officer Lieutenant Saavik in 1982 in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan.
A few years later, she started her long-running role as Rebecca Howe in the popular sitcom Cheers. In 1991, Alley won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Cheers.
In 1994, she won another Emmy, this time for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Special for her work on David's Mother.
Kirstie Alley's other notable television roles include playing the title character in the sitcom Veronica's Closet and starring in Fat Actress.
Her film credits included playing Mollie in Look Who's Talking, and the sequels, Look Who's Talking Too and Look Who's Talking Now.
In 1995 Kirstie Alley was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
She was a scientologist.
In 2011, she was paired with Maksim Chmerkovskiy in Dancing with the Stars season 12.
In August 2018 she became a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother.
Kirstie Alley died on 5 December 2022, aged 71.
