Michelle Collins's Biography
Michelle Collins was born on 28 May 1962 in London.
Her mother was a single parent, who went back to university when Michelle was 14.
Before pursuing a career in acting, Michelle Collins used to be a singer with Mari Wilson and the Wilsations.
She then got work on commercials and eventually had her big breakthrough when she was cast as Cindy Beale in EastEnders. She played the role from 10 May 1988 to 12 April 1998.
In 2003 she played the lead role in The Illustrated Mum, which the following year won the Emmy for best children and young people's programme.
In 2008, she played one of the judges on Rock Rivals.
For three years until April 2014, Michelle Collins played Stella Price in ITV's soap Coronation Street.
Her autobiography This is Me was released the week of her departure from Coronation Street.
She is an ambassador for Barnardo’s.
In 2016, Michelle Collins became one of the celebrities on Bear Grylls: Mission Survive.
