Dan Hunter was a 42-year-old civil engineer from Cheshire when he reached the final of the Great British Bake Off in 2023.
He first became interested in cooking when he went to South America in 2007.
His favourite bakes are pies and puddings.
Before Dan and his wife bought their first home, they lived with his in-laws, and Dan's mother-in-law taught him the art of making shortcrust pastry.
Apart from baking his favourite pursuits include playing football with his two young sons, exercising in the gym, and foraging for edible treats.
