Who is Susan Ma?
Susan Ma was a 21-year-old natural skincare entrepreneur, living in Croydon, when she entered The Apprentice series 7Susan reached the final of The Apprentice and came third. Even though she did not win, Lord Sugar decided to take a 50% stake in her company.
Susan Ma was born in Shanghai, China. After a spell in Cairns in Australia, she came to London aged 13, after her parents had separated.
Her mother could not speak English, but Susan Ma got herself into Croydon High School for Girls where she got A-Levels in Mathematics, Economics, Fine Art and German.
Susan Ma then studied Philosophy and Economics at University College London.
For four months in 2010, Susan Ma was a Sales & Trading Intern at Citigroup.
At the time of The Apprentice, Susan Ma had set up a business, Tropic Skin Care Ltd, selling skin care products. She had worked in Greenwich market, like her mother, and seen the opportunities to make money and so set up her own business.
In 2018 Forbes listed Susan Ma as one of the 30 top entrepreneurs under 30
