Catherine Bell's Biography
Catherine Ball was 27 years old when she entered Castaway in 2007 as a latecomer. Her arrival in the BBC show was not to join the bulk of the castaways but Jason in his isolation.
In the end, Catherine (or Cathy for short) ended up in the final group of Castaway and was only outlasted by Francie and Jonathan.
Before Castaway, Catherine lived in Newcastle and was studying for a PhD. She was a microbiologist and environmental scientist.
Catherine's mother, Pam Ball, said, on Castaway Exposed, that in her gap year, Catherine worked with children whose parents had died of AIDS in Africa.
Castaway's presenter Danny Wallace described the 6'0 tall Catherine as an 'Amazonian blonde'.
Catherine speaks five languages and says there is a good Catherine and a bad Catherine. She said on Castaway - the last 24 hours:
"I can relate to anybody ... I'm a bit of a social architect."
