Melanie Sykes was born on 7 August 1970 in Mossley, Manchester.

At 19 she joined a model agency.

She first became widely known for appearing in the "by 'eck, it's gorgeous" Boddington's ale ads.

She went on to present a variety of TV shows including the Holiday Programme on BBC1 and Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast.

Another big break for Melanie Sykes came in 2002 when she started co-hosting with Des O’Connor on ITV's Today with Des & Mel.

Subsequently she co-presented with I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here winner Gino D'Acampo, ITV’s daytime cookery show, Lunch With Gino & Mel.

Melanie Sykes has been married twice. Both marriages broke up. Her first husband was Daniel Caltagirone with whom she had two children; and her second husband was Jack Cockings.

In 2014, Melanie Sykes came third on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

In 2021, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with autism at the age of 51.
