Laura Whitmore was born on 4 May 1985 in Dublin, and was brought up in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland.

She studied journalism at Dublin City University.

In April 2008, she got her big breakthrough into TV presenting when she was selected from 3,000 contenders to be the MTV News presenter.

She won the contract as part of the reality TV show Pick Me MTV, impressing judges Trevor Nelson, Emma Willis and Alesha Dixon.

She has also hosted various MTV special shows, and, in 2010, co-hosted with Alex Zane, the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts on ITV2.

Laura Whitmore was on the cover of FHM in September, 2011.

In November 2011, Laura Whitmore became the co-host of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now.

In August 2016, Laura Whitmore was revealed as one of the celebrities to be taking part in the next season of Strictly Come Dancing.

She was paired with Giovanni Pernice.

They were the sixth couple to be voted off.

In December 2019, it was announced that Laura Whitmore was taking over from Caroline Flack as the host of Love Island.

Her boyfriend Iain Stirling does the voiceover for Love Island.

In December 2020, Laura Whitmore revealed that she was pregnant.

In 2022, she was cast, opposite Matt Willis, as Jenny in 2:22 - A Ghost Story. It was her West End debut.
