Any Dream Will Do contestant, Chris Barton was a 20 year-old student when he entered the BBC's search for a Joseph.

In show 4 of Any Dream Will Do, Chris Barton went out of the contest after he and Craig Chalmers had received the lowest number of votes from viewers and then Chris lost the sing-off.

Born in Billinge, but living in Ormskirk, Lancashire, Chris Barton was in his last year of studying for a National Diploma in Musical Theatre at Aigburth's Liverpool Theatre School when he entered Any Dream Will Do.

Chris's father, Philip Barton, is a senior dentist at Pemberton Dental Practice. He told Wigan Today that he was very proud when the Any Dream Will Do judges pointed out Chris had a wonderful smile and "when he told them who did his dentistry they asked if they could have my number."

Chris Barton was a dancer in The Wizard of Oz whilst in his first year at College. n the second week, Chris Barton was in the bottom two, but judge Zoe Tyler commented in her blog: "Chris B did such a strong performance so why was he in the sing-off? I don't understand."

Chris Barton told the BBC's Any Dream Will Do website that his ideal role would be Rusty in Starlight Express.

In February 2008, Bill Kenwright launched a pop group, Dream On, made up of Any Dream Will Do's: Craig Chalmers, Lewis Bradley, Antony Hansen, Chris Crosby as well as Chris Barton.

In August 2008 it was reported that Chris Barton would be starring in the musical Our Benny, which would return to the Liverpool Empire in November of that year.
