Bill Kenwright was born in Liverpool in 1945.

Bill Kenwright is famous in a variety of guises. In his earlier days he was an actor and played various roles including that of Gordon Clegg in Coronation Street. Kenwright is also famous for building his company Bill Kenwright Ltd into the UK's largest independent theatre and film production company.

A major breakthrough for Bill Kenwright came when he acquired the rights to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Eventually Andrew Lloyd Webber, with whom Bill Kenwright was searching for a Joseph in the BBC's Any Dream Will Do, bought the rights back.

The hits, mainly in theatre but also in film, rolled on for Bill Kenwright.

They included Blood Brothers, Shirley Valentine and An Ideal Husband. Successful tours included Jesus Christ Superstar, Tommy, and This Is Elvis.

One of Bill Kenwright's recent productions is Treats, starring Billie Piper.

In 2004, Everton appointed Bill Kenwright as their chairman after he had been deputy-chairman for five years.

Bill Kenwright was awarded the CBE for his services to film and theatre.

Bill Kenwright's partner is actress Jenny Seagrove.
