Michael Chakraverty's Biography

Michael Chakraverty was a 26 year old theatre manager at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford Upon Avon when he became one of the bakers in The Great British Bake Off in 2019.

Michael was born in Newcastle, but moved to Scone in Scotland when he was just seven years old.

He went to Perth Academy, and then studied English Literature at Edinburgh University between 2011 and 2015, gaining a First Class honours degree.

Whilst studying he worked at the Edinburgh Playhouse and the Lyceum Theatre.

After university he worked at the Ambassador Theatre in Woking, before joining the RSC.

With regard to baking, according to Channel Four, Michael Chakraverty is especially inspired by the flavours of his Indian heritage.
