The Great British Bake Off

The Great British Bake Off, often referred to simply as Bake Off, proved an incredible, if somewhat unlikely, television success.

It was at the forefront of shows where the general public (with also celebrity versions) competed at crafts, hobbies and a miscellany of tasks.

The Great British Bake Off steadily increased its audience from its inception in 2010 to the extraordinary level of 15 million viewers watching the final in 2015, which was won by Nadiya Hussain.

The first four series were broadcast on BBC Two, and since then it was on BBC One and then, from 2016, Channel 4.

The idea of the show was to find the best amateur baker, as judged by Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry, who role was taken by Prue Leith when the show moved to Channel 4.

The Great British Bake Off is made by Love Productions.
