Dean Cain's Biography
Early Life
Dean Cain was born Dean George Tanaka on 31 July 1966 in Mount Clemens, Michigan.
His biological father was Japanese, but Dean Cain never knew him.
When his mother, the actress Sharon Thomas, remarried to Christopher Cain when Dean was 4, he was given the surname Cain.
Christopher Cain was a director of the likes of The Next Karate Kid (number 4 in the series) and Young Guns.
Dean Cain graduated from Princeton with a bachelor's degree in history and went on to play American football on the books of the Buffalo Bills.
Movies and Television
However, he is best known for his acting and in particular for playing the lead role of Superman/Clark Kent in Lois & Clark - The New Adventues of Superman which ran from 1993 to 1997.
He starred opposite Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane and curiously Lois's mother was played by Phyllis Coates, who had played Lois herself in the first TV version of Superman in the 1950s.
Dean Cain's other notable credits include producing and presenting Ripley's Believe It or Not!
In 2017, he was cast as Jeremiah Danvers in the TV series Supergirl.
Personal Life
Cain had a boy with his ex-girlfriend Samantha Torres. They broke up before the baby was born and there was a long legal battle which ended up in their having joint custody of the boy.
Back in his Princeton days, he had dated Brooke Shields for two years.
The Jump
In 2016, he became one of the celebrities on Channel 4's The Jump.
Dean Cain was runner-up on series 3 of The Jump.
