Who is Joe Swash?

Joe Swash and fellow I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here contestant Carly Zucker had one thing in common: Joe Cole.

When he was 14, Joe Swash played for Millwall Youth team alongside Joe Cole, although he supports Arsenal.

Joe Swash was a 26-year-old actor when he entered I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here in 2008.

Earlier in the year, he had finished playing Mickey Miller in EastEnders. Joe Swash's first appearance in EastEnders was on 15 April 2003. Before being cast in the soap, he had just been on the point of giving up acting and was going to train to become a fireman.

He was not the only Swash family member to appear on EastEnders. His real life sister, Shana Swash played his on-screen sister, Demi Miller, and his baby son Harry appeared as Joe's on-screen nephew, Summer Swan.

Joe himself started acting young, appearing in commercials when he was still a child.

Joe Swash went to the Anna Scher Theatre School, where his classmates included other EastEnders cast members Natalie Cassidy, James Alexandrou, and Brooke Kinsella.

Not long before going into I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, Joe Swash split from Emma Sophocleous, the mother of his son Harry. They had previously got back together after separating in 2005.

According to The Mirror, at the time of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, Joe Swash was rumoured to be dating Kara Tointon's sister Hannah who played Katy Fox in Hollyoaks, however it turned out Joe Swash was actually dating Kara Tointon herself.

In October 2005 Joe Swash had a spell in hospital after being diagnosed with a brain infection called meningoencephalitis.

Joe Swash has a tattoo across his backside which says "protected and loved from above".

In June 2009 the BBC announced that Joe Swash and Austin Healey would be captains in the game show Hole in the Wall.

In 2009, Joe Swash dislocated an arm filming Celebrity Total Wipeout in Argentina.

On 2 July 2009, Media Guardian reported that Joe Swash would move in with Pamela Anderson for two one-hour specials, Pamela Anderson: At Home with Joe, and Pamela Anderson: When Joe Came to Stay commissioned by Living.

In November 2009, The Mail reported that Joe Swash had been declared bankrupt after failing to pay all of his tax bill.

In February 2016, Joe Swash became one of the celebrities on Channel 4's The Jump as a late call-up because five celebrities had withdrawn through injuries. He was the third celebrity to be eliminated.

Also, in 2016, he started going out with Stacey Solomon. They married in 2022.

On 22 September 2016, ITV revealed that I’m A Celebrity...Extra Camp would be hosted by Joe Swash along with Vicky Pattison, Chris Ramsey, and Stacey Solomon.

The following year, Joe Swash was once again presenting I’m A Celebrity...Extra Camp - this time with Scarlett Moffatt and Joel Dommett.

In February 2019, Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash revealed they were expecting their first child.

In September 2019, it was revealed that Joe Swash would be one of the contestants on Dancing on Ice in 2020.

He was paired with Alexandra Schaumann. However, after Alexandra suffered an injury Joe Swash was partnered with Alex Murphy.

They ended up winning Dancing on Ice.

In 2023, he hosted a BBC One documentary Joe Swash: Teens in Care.
