Sid Owen's Biography
Sid Owen appeared in a BBC production of Oliver Twist when he was just seven and had played Young Ned in the film, Revolution, but it was his role as Ricky Butcher in EastEnders that brought him to prominence. He first appeared in the soap on 12 May 1988.
Sid Owen had two stints on EastEnders. In the gap from 2000 to 2002, Sid travelled and built up businesses in property and restaurants. Also, in June 2000 he released a cover of Good Thing Going by Sugar Mynott.
The EastEnders storyline that Sid Owen most enjoyed was the build up and marriage to Bianca played by Patsy Palmer.
Sid Owen has appeared on a variety of TV shows including Celebrity Ready Steady Cook, Blankety Blank, Top of the Pops and Shooting Stars.
Additionally Sid Owen lost to Castaway's Ben Fogle in a celebrity boxing match for Sports Relief. Sid, whose coach was Barry McGuigan, was known as The Snake.
Sid Owen proved a popular participant in I'm a Celebrity and eventually ended up in third place.
In 2000, Sid proposed to lapdancer Carty Hubbard but they split up three years later. He also had a fling with glamour model Angel Harte, which did not last.
