Nigel Farage's Biography
Nigel Paul Farage was born 3 April 1964 in Kent.
His grandfather, Private Harry Farage, was wounded near Vimy Ridge at Arras in World War I.
Nigel's father Guy Oscar Justus Farage, was a stockbroker and an alcoholic and left the family when Nigel was five years old.
Nigel Farage attended Dulwich College, but did not go to University.
Instead he worked as a trader in the City.
In his early twenties, Farage was run over by a car. He ended up marrying his nurse, Grainne Hayes, in 1986.
Orginally a supporter of the Conservative Party, Farage left them and in 1993 he became a founding member of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP).
Farage was elected as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) in 1999. His main remit was, ironically, to remove the UK from the European Union.
That year, he married his second wife Kirsten Mehr.
In 2014, Farage led UKIP to the largest share of the vote in the European election.
Five years later, he left UKIP and launched the Brexit Party. Shortly afterwards, Prime Minister David Cameron promissed a referendum on the UK leaving the European Union.
This led to the UK's departure from the EU after a narrow vote in favour of 'Brexit'.
No stranger to the media, Farage has hosted shows on LBC and GB News.
In 2023, he came third on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
