Who is Shappi Khorsandi?

Shappi Khorsandi was born on 8 June 1973 in Tehran, Iran.

However, after her father Hadi Khorsandi satirised Ayatollah Khomeini, the family were forced to leave Iran and made home in Ealing, west London.

She studied Drama, Theatre and Television at the University of Winchester.

Since 1997, she has been a stand-up comedian.

She has also written books.

Her first was a memoir, A Beginner's Guide to Acting English and her second was a novel Nina Is Not OK.

Shappi Khorsandi was married to Christian Reilly, however they broke up in 2011.

She has a son with Christian Reilly and a daughter through a different relationship.

She is president of the British Humanist Society.

In 2017, Shappi Khorsandi became one of the celebrities on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

She was the first celebrity to be eliminated.
