Mario Marconi was 43 when he entered the Big Brother house.

Mario, who heralds from Latchford near Widnes and Warrington, is a former electronic tag officer at the Home Office, having run a post office for 21 years.

Mario was a neighbour of Hollyoaks actor, Darren Jon-Jeffries.

Mario Marconi is a freemason.

He has two children and claims to have slept with more than 200 women, in spite of once having been married for 15 years.

Mario Marconi, whose birth name was Shaun Astbury, pawned his Rolex watch to pay for his girlfriend Lisa's boob job. Mario and Lisa had been going out for over 3 years before they entered the Big Brother house.

Mario and Lisa met when Lisa bought a crystal ball off Mario on ebay.

Mario once had a diamond drilled into a tooth.

Mario Marconi needed surgery after badly injuring his shoulder playing rugby.

Big Brother is far from the first time, Mario Marconi has been on TV. He has appeared on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway in 2006 and a Bravo TV show, Brits Behind Bars, which ran for two months showing minor criminals' stay in Maricopa County jail.

Mario Marconi was also once a body double and stuntman for Robbie Coltrane.

On 7 June 2008, The Sun, reported that Mario Marconi is "believed to have been on Deal or No Deal, Wife Swap and ITV quiz show Duel."

Mario was the central focus of the first few days of Big Brother series 9 as a task involved him having a fake wedding with Stephanie.

The upshot was that Mario, Stephanie, Lisa (Mario's actual girlfriend) and Luke failed the task and were the first housemates to be up for eviction from Big Brother. However, it was Stephanie who was evicted in the public vote.

The following week, Mario Marconi was up for eviction again, as he and Alexandra got the most nominations from their fellow housemates. However, on 18 June 2008, Alexandra was removed from the Big Brother house and so Mario was safe from eviction.

On Day 37 (11 July 2008), Mario was evicted from Big Brother after losing the public vote up against Rebecca.

On 24 August 2008, live on Big Brother's Little Brother, Mario was allowed into the garden of the Big Brother house to propose to Lisa, who accepted.

However, in 2013, Mario and Lisa got divorced.
