Rachel Rice's Biography
Whilst in Big Brother, Rachel Rice was told that she had passed all the modules of her teaching qualification except module 3, that of school experience, which was deferred, meaning that Rachel could rejoin in October to start school experience again.
Like former Big Brother housemate Imogen Thomas, Rachel Rice has appeared successfully in Welsh beauty pageants.
Rachel Rice came runner-up to Imogen in a beauty pageant and they became friends.
When she was a child Rachel appeared with Hugh Grant in Night Train to Venice and with Jeremy Brett in the Sherlock Holmes TV series.
Rachel Rice reached the finals of Miss British Isles 2005 and Miss Photographic Model UK.
Rachel was also voted one of 'the ten most fanciable women' in Britain in a More magazine competition.
She got a BA Joint Hons Degree in Drama and English in November 2005 and in September 2007 returned to University to take a PGCE course in English and Drama.
Rachel Rice is a practising Catholic and has numerous cats, dogs (including a Yorkshire terrier called Missy) and geese.
Rachel's favourite book is Jane Eyre.
Rachel Rice's account to various housemates in the Big Brother house of how she lost weight was backed up by her mother who revealed that in her younger days Rachel was taunted about her size.
On Day 55 of Big Brother, it had looked like it was just Dale and Luke who were nominated, but because of a rule infringement, Rachel, Darnell, Kathreya, Maysoon, Mohamed, Rex and Stuart also faced the public vote.
Rachel Rice survived the public vote and on Day 64 of Big Brother she received a video message from home including a surprise appearance from her half-sister (from her father's previous marriage), whom she had never met.
However, just 5 days later, Rachel Rice along with Stuart was nominated for eviction from the Big Brother house.
Once again Rachel survived the public vote and stayed in the Big Brother house.
On 5 September 2008, after 93 days in the house Rachel Rice won Big Brother series 9.
The final vote was close, with Rachel with 51.3% of the vote just pipping runner-up Mikey.
After leaving Big Brother, Rachel became head of a performing arts college in Newport, South Wales.
