Joe Bugner was born in Hungary on 13 March 1950.

Bugner came to England in 1956 fleeing the Soviet invasion of Hungary.

He turned professional as a boxer in 1967 and in 1971 he took the British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight titles from Henry Cooper after a controversial decision.

He twice went the distance with Muhammad Ali and once with Joe Frazier.

Joe Bugner emigrated to Australia and lived on Queensland's Gold Coast with his wife Marlene.

Reportedly, having lost a lot of money in business ventures, Bugner was forced to make a couple of comebacks, including when he was 45, stopping West Turner in the third round of their 10-round bout.

In 2009, Joe Bugner joined I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here after Camilla Dallerup pulled out.
