Who is Jade Jones?

Jade Jones was born in Bodelwyddan in Wales on 21 March 1993.

She studied at Flint High School.

Jade started taekwondo after her grandfather Martin Foulkes took her at 8 years of age to a class in the local sports centre.

Jade Jones's early achievements include winning gold at the Youth Olympics in 2010.

Two years later, representing Team GB, she won gold at the London Olympic Games in 2012, beating the world champion Hou Yuzhuo of China in the women's -57kg final.

She was made an MBE in 2013 for services to taekwondo.

Jade Jones won back-to-back Olympic golds when she defeated Spanish world silver medallist Eva Calvo Gomez in the Rio Olympics in 2016.

In December 2016, it was reported that Jade Jones would be appearing on the fourth series of Channel Four's The Jump.

In the end, Jade Jones was the fourth celebrity to be eliminated from The Jump.

In November 2017, it was revealed that Jade Jones would be appearing on series 4 of Celebs Go Dating.

In December 2017, Jade Jones won her second successive World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final title.

On 18 May 2019, Jade Jones win the first World Taekwondo title of her career with a 14-7 victory over defending champion Lee Ah-reum.

In July 2024, Jade Jones was allowed to compete at the Olympic Games when it was decided she will not face any sanctions over a doping violation.

However, she went out in the first round, losing to Macedonia's Miljana Reljikj.
