Who is Gregg Wallace?

Gregg Wallace was born in Peckham, South East London, on 17 October 1964.

He left school at 15 and started work as a warehouseman at Covent Garden Fruit and Veg Market. He then became a salesman before starting George Allan’s Greengrocers in 1989.

Gregg Wallace told the Telegraph: "... I borrowed £15,000 from friends and set up my own veg firm in October 1989, when I was 25. We eventually had a turnover of £7.5 million. I had to put the business into receivership in 2002 because it became too hard and I couldn't hold it together any more."

His early appearances in the media included co-presenting Veg Talk on Radio 4 with Charlie Hicks, and hosting Saturday Kitchen.

Many people know him since 2005 for co-hosting MasterChef, Celebrity MasterChef and Professional MasterChef together with John Torode.

Gregg Wallace’s autobiography Life on a Plate was published in 2012.

In 2014, he was partnered with Aliona Vilani on Strictly Come Dancing, however they were the first pair to be voted off the show.

In August 2016, he married Anne-Marie Sterpini, his fourth wife.

In 2019, he presented Gregg Wallace's Christmas markets on Channel 5 and co-hosted Inside the Christmas Factory on BBC Two.

In February 2024, he gave a detailed run-down of his Saturday routine.
