Phil Gayle's Biography
Phil Gayle was born on 6 April 1964.
Before getting into TV, Phil Gayle was a DJ on various local radio stations.
In the mid-nineties, Phil Gayle presented a live current affairs and lifestyle phone-in on BBC Radio Newcastle. In the late '90s Gayle would often be the second newsreader on Channel 4 News.
He also presented the news on Big Breakfast. The BBC has a photo of Phil Gayle, Johnny Vaughan and Kelly Brook with a TRIC award from 1999.
Phil Gayle's other TV credits include First Edition, Crimewatch Daily, Seven Days and That's Esther; as well as several LWT current affairs programmes including The Week and The London Programme.
Gayle has since been a newsreader on London and National bulletins for ITV.
Phil Gayle told The Campaign for Learning:
"The most memorable lesson my parents taught me was the importance of education and the doors that it could open. The most important skill I want to teach the younger members of my family is to learn how to listen to what people are really saying when they speak. The most important lesson children have taught me is how to play, explore and have fun."
Phil Gayle was the second celebrity to be knocked out of ITV's Dancing On Ice in 2007.
