Duncan James was born on 7 April 1978 in Salisbury.

Together with Simon Webbe, Lee Ryan, and Antony Costa, Duncan James formed the highly successful band, Blue.

Like the others he had a solo career and released the album, Future Past. This BBC review also has tracks of I Don't Wanna Stop and Sooner or Later.

Duncan James and his ex-girlfriend Claire have a baby girl. He told ITV how having a child put things in perspective:

"When you are in the public eye it's all about how you look and what's the next image and what's the new style and what's the next bloody premiere you're going to and what party you're going to be seen at. It's all just a load of fake bullsh*t and you get caught up in the fake rat-race of it all and it consumes you. Then all of a sudden you realise that there's more to life than that ..."

On Duncan James's profile on officialblue.com, listed his favourite artist as Marvin Gaye and favourite song: as What's Goin' On.

Duncan James partnered by Maria Filippov took third place on Dancing On Ice in 2007.

In 2009, Duncan James acted as himself in the Channel 4 sitcom Plus One.

In September 2009, Media Guardian reported that Duncan James was to present a new series Scream if You Know the Answer!, due to be transmitted on UKTV's Watch channel in 2010.

He had a run in the hit West End musical Legally Blonde.

In 2010, Duncan James became a judge on Channel 5's talent search Don't Stop Believing.

Blue reformed in 2010 and were chosen to represent the UK in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2016, Duncan James was cast as Ryan Knight in Hollyoaks.
