Maria Filippov and Hristo Nicolov represented Bulgaria, however they retired as amateurs in 1992.

The year before, Maria Filippov was Bulgaria's National Ice Dance Champion.

She has been awarded the title of Master of the Sport of Bulgaria.

In 1998, Maria Filippov left Bulgaria and moved to Australia with her husband, Andrei Filippov, and coached the Australian National Team.

Andrei Filippov died on 24 December 2012. He and Maria had a son Anton.

Dancing On Ice

In 2013, Maria Filippov was paired with Shayne Ward on Dancing on Ice. They were the fifth pair to be eliminated.

In 2012, Maria Filippov was partnered by Andy Akinwolere in Dancing on Ice. They were the first pair to be voted off.

In 2011, Maria Filippov was paired with Craig McLachlan in series 6 of Dancing on Ice. Maria and Craig skated well but were eliminated in their first week (which was the second week of the show).

In 2010 Maria Filippov skated with Gary Lucy in Dancing on Ice.

Maria and Gary came second in Dancing on Ice 2010.

It was another good result for Maria Filippov, who in Dancing on Ice in 2009 had partnered Ray Quinn to victory.

In week 6, Maria and Ray scored a perfect 30 from the Dancing on Ice judges, and in the final they scored a perfect 60 out of 60 before winning the overall public vote.

In 2008, Maria Filippov partnered Gareth Gates in Dancing on Ice.

Maria and Gareth finished fourth in Dancing on Ice.

Maria Filippov won with Jake Wall on Dancing on Ice in Australia in 2006.

In 2007, she partnered Duncan James on Dancing on Ice in the UK.

Maria Filippov was selected to be one of the professional ice skaters to appear in the final series of Dancing on Ice in 2014. She was reunited with Ray Quinn, and they ended up winning the series.
