Wayne Newton, nicknamed Mr Las Vegas, was born on 3 April 1942, in Virginia, USA, the son of a Powahatan Indian / Irish father and a Cherokee Indian / German mother.

Wayne Newton had a talent for music at a very early age and whilst still in first grade he performed at a USO show for President Truman.

Newton has gone on to sing for many millions of people and is believed to have performed more live shows than any other single performer in Las Vegas. His routine includes such signature numbers as Danke Schoen and Red Roses for a Blue Lady.

Another one of Wayne Newton's hits was Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast.

Wayne Newton has also recorded well over 150 albums.

Wayne Newton told TV Guide about his reasons for doing Dancing with the Stars:

"This gives me the chance to relive my high-school days and — at the risk of sounding corny — learn something that I've always wanted to learn but haven't had the time to do."

CNN had an article about how Wayne Newton's wallaby Priscilla escaped from his home leading to a chase through Las Vegas.

In Dancing With the Stars, Wayne Newton partnered Cheryl Burke in series five, but they were eliminated in the third week.

In February 2010, the BBC reported that, according to The Oakland Press, Wayne Newton had abandoned his plane at a Detroit airport, racking up bills of more than $60,000.
