Bobby Davro's Biography
Who is Bobby Davro?
Bobby Davro was born Robert Nankeville in 1959 in Middlesex and grew up in Staines.His father was Bill Nankeville, who finished sixth in the 1948 Olympics in the 1500 metres and later set up a chain of discount shops called Davro named after his sons David and Robert (i.e. Bobby Davro).
Davro made his first TV appearance in 1981 and appeared on entertainment shows such as Copy Cats, Go For It and Punchlines, before landing a number of his own shows including Bobby Davro on the Box.
He also presented the BBC variety show Rock with Laughter.
However, things took a turn for the worst in the mid-1990s. Bobby Davro told The Mail:
"Everything came to a grinding halt. TV was changing and my face was no longer wanted. My phone stopped ringing and I began to panic.
"When I was working on TV, I was rehearsing impressions, going into the studio every day and learning lines. When all that stopped, it left a huge gap in my life and that's when the depression started to set in."
Bobby Davro then broke up with his wife the former Page Three model Trudi Jameson.
The 21st century has seen Davro taking up several acting roles, often in panto and notably in EastEnders, which he joined in 2007 and had the role of the rogue Vinnie Monks.
In 2010 Bobby Davro became of the celebrities on Dancing on Ice. He partnered Molly Quigley Moenkhoff.
Bobby and Molly were the second pairing to be voted off the show.
In 2015, he became one of the housemates on Celebrity Big Brother.
In 2017, Bobby Davro appeared on the Channel Five series, In Therapy.
